John,
	Are the reduction gear boxes the later, "big nut" or the original small nuts RGBs? Since you've rebuilt them I'm guessing that they are small nut? Also, you are pulling everything apart anyways, do use large nut RGBs. They will make your bus much more useful. 
	This repair job is messy and you do need to be cautious with the spring plates, but it is something you can do.
