Re draining gas, I'd use the fuel pump disconnected on way to pressure 
regulator, using another tube into gas can, or just drain from tube 
going to fuel filter.
Ethanol/gas (E10) is bad news even after a few months-can get settling 
of condensation+ethanol, also gas can gum very quickly as I found out 
paying $270 to get a Yahama Generator going again.
As for vacuum gauge, I think you use the T going to vac brakes?
