rear drums are a ton of help stopping. ;)   so discs are also a great help.

pop a rear axle seal and grease up those shoes and tell me otherwise....
 or just pull your rear line from your MC and put a plug in the hole.  go
drive.


the big tip here - unless you go 15" wheels, you're not upgrading STOPPING
POWER significantly.  you're upgrading maintenance and serviceability.
stock drums, well adjusted with quality shoes, have a metric fuckton of
stopping power.  it's  your leg and your tires that tend to let you down....

of course, most aren't well maintained, dont have quality shoes, and are
out of adjustment most of the time.   I used to find adjusting my front
drums to be a ~1500-2000 mile service interval to keep them where I liked
them.
