I use a Horrible freight low profile hyd transmission jack to hoist my 
engine in place.

manual trannys I think have to go in connected.
auto trannys I found are easier seperately.  an auto tranny is dang near 
as heavy as an engine so you are hoisting dang near 500lbs connected.

and other than that (*G(){$$ three bolts that are unobtanium that holds 
the flex plate to the torque converter it is very straight forward going 
in.
