[T2] Gen light

[T2] Gen light

Well, I went out to look at the fan belt and wiring this morning.
I changed the fan belt from FLAPS that was a mite too big to a German one. As I was changing the belt, I noticed that the D+ wire on the generator was loose from the generator and had shorted against the D- terminal on the generator! The terminal ring on the end of the D+ was half melted off.
The threads D+ terminal post were damaged too, maybe from the short. The nut that holds that terminal was quite loose too.
I repaired the threads the best I could tightened up the nut, replaced the ring terminal, and put everything together. The GEN light is still on. I checked the voltage from the regulator to the battery and found that the output was only 12.67 volts.
I haven't done a proper voltage check on the generator, but the output from the generator to the regulator was the same 12.67 voltage.
I'll do a proper Bentley voltage check in AM.
I hope I don't have to change the generator as its only 2 years old, it's a PITA and Walter and I are going on our 4th annual father/son road trip to New Brunswick in 3 weeks!
More news tomorrow!
