this reminds me of a very vexing problem I had on my first air cooled VW, 
when engine got hot and it was under load it would miss or even stall. 
let it sit, ran normally. turns out I had a pinhole leak on the vacuum 
side of the fuel line.  (only took 4 months to find, about 4 minutes to 
fix)
