[T2] Sliding door hardware cover, Horn Ring Contact & Title questions

Hi Guys,

A few questions about my ’78. Westy.

I just got it back from the body shop. When I had it shipped back from CA,
the shipper caused some damage, the insurance issue is still not resolved,
but hopefully should be eventually. While I was having the damage repaired,
I also had all the minor dings and scratches touched up. Also the rails that
go under the two rear side windows were removed and repainted. For some
reason these had a lot of chips in them. They also replaced the front and
rear glass seals, and the jalousies seal.

Ok - my questions -
1. When the covers for the sliding door mechanism were replaced, the bolt
that holds the glide onto the door now scratches that cover. I tried to
adjust it all as much as I could, but it was still scratching. So I took the
cover off, and filed the end of the bolt down, essentially making it shorter
by about ¼”. Any ideas why this happened?

2. The Horn Ring Contact copper strip, not sure what it is actually called,
but it is the sort of bent/curved copper piece that is part of the turn
signal switch, but provides contact between the steering wheel horn button
and the steering column. You can see a picture here -
http://www.vw-resource.com/ignition_switch_replacement.html Mine is damaged
similar to the picture, i.e. the copper has worn through. This page
suggested that the horn ring contact can be repaired with thin copper foil.
But it does not explain how to do this. I can't think how to do this, and
the existing copper is so thin - Any ideas?

3. I finally registered my vehicle in NH. They said I did not need a new
title, but I could get one. I opted not to, to save a few bucks. They said I
could get one if I need it. Should I get one, what is the reason I should
get one or forget it? There was also an antique plate option, that would
have saved me a few bucks, but required a couple more trips, and more
driving around.

Thanks for tips/suggestions on these items.
