Here is a little ( BIG) project that I have been tinkering on recently. I took a 67-71 bus Campmobile sink cabinet that I picked up for $50. My dad and I installed a Vanagon fridge unit in it. I used laminate from another trashed early cabinet to refinish the Vanagon front fridge panel. I have it a custom stainless steel clad door and repainted the trim handle and hardware to match that of the early cabinet.

I restored the spice rack...

And found a friend from GA inside the cabinet. I don't know how she has survived the lacquer thinner, contact cement, and paint fumes.

I have found the best way to salvage laminate from a rotten cabinet is to keep the wood panels in wet soil outside, keep it covered from sun, and keep it wet. Mother nature and bugs will do the rest. The wood will rot and the laminate will peal off (carefully). Just keep the suns rays off of it. Sand the back of the laminate and use contact adhesive to reinstall on your project.
