[T2] Pop top leg stuck in extended position

Hi,

One of my pop top extension tubes refused to recompress. It got jammed half
way down. I had to remove the lower foot from where it attaches to the
frame to get the top to lower. Now the leg is fully extended (like a leg
with a knee that won't bend). Is this fixable?

I notice that there is a spring in there that seems to attach to a cable.
It seems possible that something snapped and the spring is no longer doing
its job. Since things are potentially under load, I don't want to mess with
it without some information. There is nothing written about this that I can
find.
