Hi Dan, Iâve posted a photo of the broken flange on my blog here: http://www.pottsfamily.ca/pottsfamily/wordpress/?p=178 Itâs repairable, I just need to clean it up with a wire wheel and take it to an expert welder friend of mine. Iâve borrowed a spare cylinder head to use as an alignment fixture, so it shouldnât be too complex a repair. But the job did get a little more complicated when one of the studs came out with a big helping of aluminum threads. Installing a Heli-coil with the motor still in the bus is going to be an interesting experience⦠Happy trails, Greg Potts 1973 WestFakia 1.7L FI Toronto Ontario Canada www.pottsfamily.ca > On May 13, 2018, at 9:32 PM, Dan Bessom <grtfldan at gmail.com> wrote: > > Depending on where the repair is needed, they can be repaired. I need to repair or replace my passenger side heater box and the retail cost is rather steep, so I am looking into alternatives. For the cost of a pair of heater boxes and a muffler I could likely complete a water-cooled inline-4 engine swap. But after careful consideration Iâve decided Iâd rather be driving than wrenching this summer, so a heater box repair or replacement seems to be the more expedient course of action. > > > > I tracked down a pair of NOS boxes in VT on TheSamba over the winter but the seller doesnât appear to be interested in shipping them. > > > > Happy trails, > > > > Greg Potts > > 1973 WestFakia 1.7L FI > > Toronto Ontario Canada > > www.pottsfamily.ca > > _______________________________________________ > > type2 mailing list > > type2 at type2.com > > https://www.type2.com/lists/type2/listinfo > > _______________________________________________ > type2 mailing list > type2 at type2.com > https://www.type2.com/lists/type2/listinfo > -- > > Dan B > 703 861 9633
