My '73 VW alternator label reads

BOSCH   0120 085 565 {theta} 566
                K1––– 14V 55A 22
                 VW 043 903 023


The regulator is a small sealed internal plastic box, made in Australia.
Does anyone have a key to tell whether this is a 1973 (presumably the
original), or later?

Charging became poor even at high revs.
We've had it off.  The slip-rings are largely worn out  -  metal less than
half the circumf.  Apart from that, there's no evident fault.

Does anyone rebuild these?
