My bus is a 1971 Westy with a custom (oversized) engine. To give you an idea of output, it was designed to produce 135 HP. It's hasn't been put on a dyno, however.

The engine has less than 5000 miles on it, although I'm not sure when the problem started. I know it's running hot 'cause after an hour or so of driving, you can't touch the dipstick -- it's that hot. Also, it was running so hot that some of the residual plastic in the ceiling of the engine compartment (took out the old "straw") started to melt. I went crazy with the fire extinguisher before figuring out what was smoldering. Fun.

FWIW, the side cooling compartment/baffles on the body are clear (no bird's nests or any obstructions).
