I took over a spare ignition switch I had.  Pulled the wire harness from the steering column and plugged it in.  Zoom!  Started right up but died.  Went back and took a second look in the engine bay for wires in right place.  Someone had switched cyl 3 and 4.  Refired it up and it kept going, though hell of a lot rougher than my bus.  PO has installed an aftermarket dizzy.  Not sure whether it's a 009 or 050 or what?  Fiddled with the timing taking it to 30 before then back to 20.  Not running good but running.  Told the newbie to enroll on the list and take a picture of the dizzy so you can tell him what he has installed.  I told him to look for an original.
The body of this bus is freshly painted and straight, but if the PO sold this bus as a good running bus, HE IS A CROOK!  I see Buses on craigs list and ebay that are asking ridiculous prices.  Should this list weigh in on what a bus should go for these days and what the minimum mechanical condition should be?  I would welcome the dialogue, and maybe a check list of what to look for in purchasing a 40 year old Bus (to be put in the Library).
One question I have is about a third wire coming off the coil (or on) terminal # 1.  Bentley shows this as gray/green. (terminates at #13,  don't understand this.  Not on the 13 circuit chart location).  My bus does not have this wire while the newbie 's does.  Any clue as to what this is and where it goes?
Glad to hear that Bob is running again.  Looking forward to a followup on the exact gremlin that was bugging him!
