[T2] Window Seals

Jon,

I'm a bit confused, the OEM seal goes only, barely, barely past the edge, with time and shrinkage by about 15 years it doesn't go past.  Bus Depot used to sell an OEM south American one that had an extended lip, I think just along the bottom but don't recall, which was nice to cover rust, but I never cared for the look.  Sort of retarded looking I always thought, did use one on my first SC years ago.  The profile of all rubber on a bus is pretty much the same, and all of the knock off's I've ever seen have been pretty much correct in profile, the major differenced being more flexibility, longetivity, and how well corners were formed as needed.  With time water sneaks under all of them, short of using a bit of a non hardening sealent (butyl but its getting hard to find) on installation (which makes a god awful mess later) with time, heat cycles, UV exposure, and age, they are going to croak.  The UV degradation is what usually seems to get em to
me, and that is sort of hit and miss luck, even OEM German sometimes lasted 25 years, sometimes would be cracked and dried in 10-15, you could look at all original rubber on a bus in the early 90s and half would be toast, half would be great.

I'd go with whatever BD is selling, or if WW makes a non trim seal (I've only used their trim ones), I usually find their stuff pretty good, but I haven't bought one for about 5 years.

John

I really need a source for a non-deluxe window seal that goes beyond the
edge of the window channel like the original. I think I have used nearly
every vendor and none make a seal that fits like stock. With the extreme
temperature changes around here water sneaks in.

The only one that worked for me in the past 10 years was a seal I got from
OE VEEDUB but that ride is over.
