[T2] Alternator charging?

I've also heard a couple of times of diodes going bad in alternators whereby when tested running, the alternator charges fine.  But once the vehicle is turned off, the alternator actually begins to discharge the battery.

I thought something must be drawing power all the time.  Thought it is my stereo, so I've unplugged it.  Charged the battery and it's started fine.  

Just not sure if the alternator is charging fully, sometimes, or what.
