The Baton is really a VW hubcap (shown above). The numerous participants have signed the hubcap with the felt-tip pen included in the Souvenir Box (although Dave Jersey thought it would look better without the signatures) and added various items they deem appropriate to their leg of the hubcap's journey to the souvenir box.
The venerable KEEPER OF THE TOUR MEMORABILIA is the person who preserves and catalogues the contents of the Tour Box as time progresses. This is to enable the collection of memorabilia to remain intact until such time as the Tour draws to a conclusion and a final home is found for the Hubcap and the Tour Box and it's contents. We are hoping, as thing progress, to interest a museum or other public collection in keeping and displaying the many artifacts gathered by Tour participants as it makes it's way around the world.
