Woke up this morning to temps in the twenties and 2 inches of fresh snow. Picked a hell of a day to start my part of the bus relay. "Babcia" (69 Westie) has no heat as the heat exchangers are nonexistent due to rust and not even hooked up. Fired up the propane heater and headed with my daughter Tootsie to Johnson City to meet up with Robert Cupp at Winged Deer Park. There is a VW show hosted at that park by D&G Foreign Auto in the summer. Picked up my dad en route as it actually is his bus, and figured he should be a part of this.
The trade off went well. The hubcap is now in a small case supplied by Michael. There are plenty of little souvenirs in there as well as some pictures. There is a disposable camera in there that got left with Robert so had to make a trip to his house to get it. Turns out he lives near my brother. Small world.
I took the package to Tootsie's gymnastic class and showed it to some friends. Now they know I am not the only bus nut in the world.
I will place the pics from today in the case and meet with Chris Slaymaker this weekend to start his portion of the journey.
I was amazed to see how many people I know in the book so far! I think everyone should include a pic of their bus to the box.
I have been home 2 hours and still cold. :-)
