Altimiter was duct-taped just north of the horn button, oil temp and CHT were in a dual- gauge pod mounted below the dash. Oil pressure, being the most important gauge to me, was mounted in the hole to the right of the speedo (washed out by the flash). This was an acceptable layout for quite some time, until I found a bus clock in the junkyard one day and had to make room for it. :-)
The black mounting panel is part of a "flourescent whiteboard" from Wal Mart. It was really too tight of a fit for all of those gauges - I am trying to come up with a better solution that will house my swap-meet 4" Porsche-914 tach and address the parallax error.
The speedo was almost a straight bolt-in. I only had to drill two new holes in the mounting bracket. The speedo cable attached with no modification and it reads correctly. I did have to drill a hole in the glass for the trip meter reset button. Setting the odometer to match the old odometer reading (except with a "1" in front) was a simple matter. It sure is nice, and once I replace the gas gauge cluster with a black-face one from a later bus, they will all match.
